Planning your wedding – Top Tips

by Steve Pritchard-Jones

It’s so easy to get caught up in the moment and forget what’s really important when you’re planning your big day. If you book me I will certainly help you to stamp your own individuality onto the proceedings. I will write a bespoke personalised special ceremony unique to you! But remember, when planning your special day there really is no Right Way or Wrong Way….there’s only, Your Way! The ceremony will reflect the two of you as a couple, and the vows you’re making and keeping, and should not leave you shattered, anxious and broke!!!!

With the average cost of a wedding in the UK now estimated at between £18,000 and £21,000, it’s essential that you look at your budget, and spend it wisely. Don’t feel that you have to do things in a certain way just to satisfy a family member or just because you think you ought to – spending your precious budget on unnecessary items that nobody will remember after the day is just wasteful!

Here are Steve’s Top Tips of what I believe to be the most important aspects of a Wedding:

• Venue that is flexible. Don’t fall for the sales pitch. Don’t be coerced into having their “standard” wedding package (this is easier for them).

• Photographer who you can get on with, who has taken the time to meet you and understands what you want.

• Show off your own personality – A celebrant will write a personalised ceremony script, and help you to write your own Wedding Vows etc.

• Flowers produced by a professional florist.

• Outfits (wedding dress/groom’s outfit, including shoes)) that feel comfortable to wear

• Sensible guest list that includes only those people who want at your wedding and not those you feel you should invite.

• Hire someone to run the day for you; this could be a wedding planner, Master of Ceremonies, venue wedding manager etc.

• Keep the wedding breakfast menu simple. Simple food well cooked is always a winner. It doesn’t have to break the bank. Consider something different such as a hog roast, or a fish and chip van.

• The best reception drinks and the drinks for the important toasts you can afford. It doesn’t have to be champagne!

Finally……

• Entertainment throughout the day that guests of all ages will enjoy. Planning your wedding day is exciting and you’ll have the most fun you’ll ever have amongst your family and friends. I wish you the best of luck. Reach out if you would like me to help you create memories that will last forever.
