There are many important decisions to make when planning a ceremony and one of the significant ones is choosing the right music to enhance the atmosphere.
I studied music at Liverpool and Trinity College of Music, and I began my working life as a professional musician and teacher this led to me performing at many different venues and occasions, including many weddings and funerals.
Wedding music
Your special wedding day should have special music – trumpet – piano – organ – brass ensemble
There are so many types of music that can be translated for piano even if they were originally composed for a completely different instrument or ensemble. How many people would have the main theme from films such as Star Wars or Mission Impossible played on the piano as the bride walks down the aisle? Believe me, it's been done!
If you are looking to book a wedding pianist for your wedding day, Steve has over 30 years’ experience performing for weddings and civic functions and will play the music you love for your wedding ceremony, drinks reception or wedding breakfast.
Music for Your Wedding Ceremony
Background music to welcome your guests to the wedding venue. The piano performance will create a relaxed atmosphere and an elegant sense of occasion for your guests. The bride, or groom, will walk down the aisle to piece of live piano music of your choosing. This is the moment everyone remembers; and really sets the scene for the rest of your special day.
Music for Your Drinks Reception
As your family and friends offer their congratulations, Steve will perform live background music as the drinks are served and keep the guests entertained as they mingle while the bride and groom are elsewhere having fabulous photographs taken.
Music for Your Wedding Breakfast
Steve will perform live background music while the bride, groom and guests sit down to eat. Live relaxing background music keeps the conversation flowing and the celebratory mood continuing as your guests sit down to eat together.
Steve is in demand as a wedding trumpeter, as well as a wedding & cocktail pianist. He also leads Shropshire Brass Ensemble and is Musical Director of Shrewsbury Brass Band.
Wedding Trumpeter
I can play a trumpet solo as you down the aisle as you try to hold back the emotions, I can play you both out after you’ve said, "I do", and I can play background music on the piano as you enjoy your wedding breakfast with your friends and family.
Arrival of the Bride
The Processional Music as the Bride walks down the aisle is the “big wow moment!!!” and live music on the trumpet or performed by a brass ensemble will provide the perfect impression. If it’s good enough for Royalty, why not for you?
Music for the signing of the Register
Once all the formalities are completed, I can perform your favourite piece whilst you sign the Register.
POINT OF ORDER – If you are having a Civil Wedding Ceremony, music must not have any religious context. I can advise you on this and help you with your choices, if you so wish.
Hymns
If you’re getting married in Church, Shropshire Brass can accompany specially arranged hymns. If you would prefer an organist I would be more than happy to accommodate this request.
Exit Music
You’re now Married! CONGRATULATIONS! As you depart the fantastic ceremony you’ve just experienced, Shropshire Brass will perform and piece of your choice that will put huge smiles on everyone’s faces and set you all up for the remainder of your special day.
My Wedding Music Packages provide a selection of live music options to make your big day extra special.
Shropshire Brass Ensemble
Before the Wedding Ceremony, we can play a wide selection of music from classical music, love songs to jazz classics to entertain your guests and to create the right mood and ambience.

The Last Post
I have over 35 years’ experience a trumpet, cornet player and Bugler.
With over 35 years’ experience of playing the trumpet, cornet and bugle all over the UK and
I have performed The Last Post at War Cemeteries in France and Belgium.
The bugle call, the “Last Post” is probably one of the most emotional moments you will experience and as a past member of the Territorial Army (Light Infantry), I totally understand its significance to both serving and retired Military personnel as well as retired members of the Emergency Services, and their families.
I perform with the utmost professionalism and dignity and if the Last Post is required as part of my celebrancy offer, I don’t charge extra. There is a charge if I’m booked if only required to sound the Last Post and I will liaise with the family, funeral director or another celebrant, to ensure that it all runs without a hitch.
If required, I'm able to perform "Sunset" for the Funeral Services of ex-Royal Marines and the Cavalry "Last Post" and "Reveille" for ex-Cavalry/Royal Artillery personnel.
Funeral Organist
I am a Fellow of the Society of Cremation Organists
I would love to perform on the trumpet as you walk down the aisle to the Trumpet Voluntary.
I would be happy to accompany the hymns or songs and also to provide background piano music at the wedding breakfast or the celebration of life.
Why not pay tribute to your loved one at the celebration of life by having The Last Post sounded on the bugle? It would be a fitting tribute, to ex-service personnel or a member of the emergency services.
It is so easy to undervalue the emotional power of live music.

I am the musical director of a brass band and a smaller brass ensemble and can offer a cost-effective package. You can choose either group subject to availability for as little as £350 (including travel within 25 miles of Shrewsbury).
