TOP TIPS FOR AN AMAZING CHRISTMAS WEDDING

by Steve Pritchard-Jones

But let’s be honest, probably too late for 2022!!!!!

But why not start planning for 2023 or 2024?

Start to plan as soon as possible

As soon as you book the venue, send out an informal ‘keep the date free’ email to your friends and family.

Keep Calm and Carry On!

Because it’s Christmas, some people will turn down your invitation. Do not worry if people say No. Christmas is a busy time of year and it’s nothing personal.

Select your Civil Celebrant

If you’re not going for the traditional church wedding, and a registry office is a bit too dull and formal, then an independent civil celebrant will work with you to produce a personalised and brilliant Christmas themed ceremony. You can choose poetry, music, readings, vows, symbolic ceremonies – whatever you want.

Choose your wedding photographer

Your wedding photos are something you’ll keep forever so, you need to make sure you get the perfect photographer.

Remember to….

Set a budget – ask for reviews of their work – look at their portfolio – arrange a meeting.

Steve at Top Note Ceremonies recommends Nikki at Royal Touch Photography www.royaltouchphotography.com; however, you must work with those who you feel most comfortable with, so don’t only speak to one photographer, shop around.

Start thinking about the theme and how the Christmas theme will enhance your special day

Sing a Christmas Carol

Christmas Tree – use to display gifts rather than having a wedding gift table. It’ll look great!

Name each table with a Christmas name – Christmas song title, Father Christmas’s Reindeer etc

Think about what music you would like.

How about a Brass ensemble or carol singers to give your special day a real Christmas atmosphere?

Invite Santa Claus

How about asking your Celebrant to dress up as Santa or asking a friend to dress as Santa? How about Santas grotto to keep the children entertained later on in the day? Sound fun?

Use a professional wedding planner

Minimise the stress and to give you more time to do other things. They know what they’re doing.

Christmas Wedding Drinks

Although champagne or prosecco is a traditional wedding drink as it’s Christmas, why not try mulled wine or Baily’s hot chocolate?

Wedding colours

Holly green, Santa red, silver, gold and white are beautiful and romantic Christmas colours. If you integrate them into the room decorations, flowers, tree and wedding cake the room will look stunning.

Feeling adventurous?

If you’re feeling adventurous you could have artificial snow to give the room that real Christmas look.

Do Your Christmas shopping well in advance

That way, you can enjoy your special day, without having to think about Christmas too.

Delegate! Delegate! Delegate!

Because it’s your wedding it’s easy to get embroiled in the planning, but this is your special day others are there to help you. Delegate the appropriate bits to your wedding planner, bridesmaids, venue and celebrant. It’s easier said than done, but just try to allow yourself to go with the flow.

REMEMBER – whatever happens, and whatever you do IT’S YOUR DAY!!!! ENJOY IT!!!!

Have a wonderful day!
