What is a divorce ceremony and why should I have one?

Like any moment in life where change or transition takes place, Divorce can be very personal and distressing. A personal journey unique to each couple. Divorce ceremonies are becoming more and more popular because it allows couples to publicly declare the end of a stage of their life and the beginning of a new chapter.
Similar to a wedding ceremony which brings two people together, a divorce ceremony splits two people apart where there is a straightforward end to the relationship so that both people, no matter how difficult, can move on. Divorce ceremonies can often be profoundly personal, intended to support the divided couple and their children and relatives move past the hurt, anger and disappointment. .
Divorce ceremonies are personalised to the couple. They can be elaborate ceremonies with friends and family in attendance, or they can be intimate and private. Some couples will make personal “vows” to each. You may choose to make shared parenting promises to each other or to your children. You may wish to give your blessing to each other to renew your separate lives.
A divorce ceremony may include readings or significant music and guests may also say a few words. Why not plant a tree as a symbol of new roots and new life.
Divorce ceremonies are not the legal end to a marriage, but a spiritual way for couples to end their relationship with dignity, respect and healing
